The event is held annually and is the school's largest fund-raiser of the year. This year's dinner and auction brought in more than $67,000 for the school.
The hallway, gymnasium and classrooms of Bishop Hogan Memorial School had a rock 'n' roll atmosphere as the school hosted its 9th annual dinner and auction Saturday night with the theme "Rock 'n' Roll with Catholic Education."
The dinner and auction took place inside the Rock 'n' Roll Supper Club which, at other times, is the school's gymnasium. After serving salads to the 400-plus guests gathered, waitresses in rolled up blue jeans, white shirts and neck scarves, served burger baskets and fries to the guests. The meal concluded with root beer floats. Records decorated the school's interior, and 1960's era-themed decorations were found throughout the classrooms where hundreds of items were up for sale in the silent auction, prior to the live auction taking place.
The annual event benefits Chillicothe's Catholic school, and this year's dinner and auction brought in more than $67,000 through table sponsorships and the auctions. Additional money was coming in as of this (Monday) morning, according to volunteer coordinator Sheila Ealey. "Bishop Hogan Memorial School had a fantastic night," Ealey said. "There was a tremendous turnout," she added. "Thank you to all the supporters near and far. To the students, parents, parish and community, we thank all of you."
Money raised during the event helps pay for the direct operational costs of the school. "It was a great evening," said Bishop Hogan Principal Donna Saccaro. "It was the largest crowd ever and, probably, the most money made for Bishop Hogan School." The principal stated that it was a cooperative effort by students, staff, parents, businesses, and community members, and extended appreciation for everyone who helped, including Hy-Vee Food Store, which donated and fully catered the meal. "It was a delicious meal and went right along with the theme," Saccaro said.
The auction was called by Mike Miller Auction Service. The top item sold was a 12-gauge Benelli Ducks Unlimited shotgun in its case, which sold for $4,100.
There were 38 table sponsors for the evening. Table decorations included centerpieces made from records and photographs taken from 1960's Bishop Hogan yearbooks.

Over $57,000 was raised during the event. Burgers, baskets of French fries, and root beer floats were all a part of the meal Saturday, lending to the 1960's era theme.

Bishop Hogan Memorial School provides education for all children in and around the Chillicothe, Missouri area. Our school is special and unique, as we are able to teach about God not only in religion class, but also throughout the school's entire curriculum. God is an important part of our lives.
Annually, we hold a dinner auction to help support the cost of educating our students. Since we are a parochial school, we do not receive any state funding. We do participate in the Federal Hot Lunch Program and are able to assist children through this program. The costs for teacher's salaries, utilities and the building up-keep, is the responsibility of the school and St. Columban Church. The generosities of those who support our dinner auction each year help keep our school open.
This year, our 9th Annual Dinner Auction will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2012. The evening's theme is "Rock n' Roll with Catholic Education", and the evening will be full of fun and excitement for all. The doors open at 4:00 p.m. for people to browse the silent auction rooms. At 6:30 p.m. we will have dinner, followed by a live auction. Because of the nature of the event, only individuals over the age of 21 will be allowed.
We are asking you to consider assisting Bishop Hogan Memorial School in this year's dinner auction. First, we could use your prayers for a successful event to keep our school thriving. Second, we would appreciate your donation of an item or service for the auction. If you would like to donate something and you need the item picked up, please call the school office at 660-646-0705 and speak to Linda, our school secretary. She will arrange to have your item picked up. If you would like to help, but you are not sure how, please call Linda, and she will guide you.
Bishop Hogan Memorial School is all about the "Spirit of Success". If you know someone who would excel from our Christ-centered education, please have them contact the Bishop Hogan Memorial School office.
